Our Committee

Greenlink operations and strategy are overseen by a Committee of Management who are responsible for all aspects of the nursery and all our volunteers.

Our committee members have a broad range of experience, skills and interests which attracted them to volunteer for Greenlink.

Our committee members are:

Robert Jones - President

Robert joined Greenlink in 2013 as a volunteer and became a committee member in 2015, Then became President in 2016

After retiring from a working life in International Trade in late 2012, Robert wanted to spend some of his spare time to make a contribution and a difference to the local neighbourhood. Having spent many years growing up in the Dandenongs with a large garden he always enjoyed gardening and growing plants. In mid 2013, Robert came across Greenlink one day on a walk along the Bushy Creek trail and enquired if they were in need of any new volunteers. The answer was yes, so the next day he started and has been basically volunteering at Greenlink, two mornings a week ever since.

Emi Luppino - Vice President

Emi joined Greenlink in 2015 as a volunteer and was appointed as a committee member later that same year. In 2017, she was appointed Vice-President.

With extensive experience in project management and corporate administration, Emi played a key role in implementing the release of Greenlink’s new Nursery Management System in 2015. Her passion for community service and commitment to volunteering with various not-for-profit organisations has driven her ongoing involvement with Greenlink, as well as several other community groups.

Chris Almond - Secretary

Chris joined Greenlink in 2019 as a volunteer and become a committee member in 2021.

Chris has had a career as a Packaging Scientist with companies including Kraft Foods and Cadbury after completing a Biochemistry degree. He has always had a love for gardening and has been a keen bush walker over the years. Greenlink has been the perfect opportunity to broaden knowledge of native plants and actively contribute to the growth of indigenous flora and habitats for local fauna. As well as meeting a great bunch of people and having a lot of fun!

Trevor Eddy – Treasurer/Public Officer

Trevor started out as a consultant for Greenlink in 2012, having been asked to "check things out". He became a volunteer early 2013, joined the committee in 2013 and became Treasurer in 2014.

Trevor is involved in most aspects of the nursery such as maintenance, finances, contracts, tenders, infrastructure and “future proofing”. He has a strong background in Governance, Strategic Planning, Regulatory requirements and enjoys getting the best deal. He values every Customer and enjoys working across the broader Whitehorse Community.

Andrew Hardie - Committee Member

Andrew joined Greenlink in late 2020 as a volunteer and become a committee member in 2022.

Andrew has had a long interest in indigenous plants, and signed up to build on this and gain experience while completing a post-graduate qualification in horticulture, after deciding it was time for a change after a career in information management and mapping.  As an enthusiastic explorer of green spaces both in and around Melbourne, and now a qualified horticulturalist, he's keen to continue to see indigenous plants thrive in our remnants, become commonplace in our parks and backyards, and support biodiversity around us.

Gabrielle Bradley - Committee Member

Gabrielle became a member of Greenlink in 2018 to enhance her knowledge and understanding of indigenous plants, and connect with a community of like-minded people. She served as a committee member from 2019 to 2021 and has now rejoined the committee in 2024 during a crucial period when there is significant work to be done to help the nursery adapt to changes in climate, reduced habitat, and declining biodiversity.

Gabrielle possesses qualifications in Sustainable Landscape Design as well as Conservation and Land Management, and is deeply committed to the protection and preservation of our native flora and fauna. She is an active member of the seed collecting team, and current editor of the Greenlink newsletter.

Heather Eadon - Committee Member

Heather joined Greenlink in July 2005 as a volunteer and became a committee member not long after, She then became President in 2010 for 4 years and Vice President 3 years after that. Following a short break from committee work Heather has rejoined in 2024.

Heather joined Greenlink when she moved back into the area. Whilst getting involved in various aspects of the nursery activities ie; field work, planting out, seed collection, festivals, sales days, being on the committee, etc. it was not long before Greenlink overtook her life. Her passion, dedication, knowledge, and years of service has seen Heather become a Life Member of Greenlink.

Janet Russell - Committee Member

Janet became a regular member of Greenlink at the start of 2024, most often works in the park and pond. She was appointed as a committee member later that same year.

Coming from a family of gardeners she's come to appreciate the role of indigenous plants and water in our landscape and the difference they make to local microclimates and the presence of wildlife.  She enjoys experimenting with growing indigenous plants in a variety of ways from park and garden to pots, nature strip gardening and making ponds. From her previous working life she also brings an enthusiasm for cataloguing information.

Matthew Jennings - Committee Member

Matt joined Greenlink nursery as a volunteer in 2023.

He quickly found himself at home within the greenhouse. So much so that he began pursuing horticulture studies. After asking one too many questions about how various nursery systems functioned, he was challenged to join the committee in 2025 and to expand his understanding.

Grateful for the opportunity to both learn and serve, Matt hopes to use what he has learnt for the benefit of Greenlink and the community-driven values it represents. These days he can often be found sowing the next generation of seeds or dodging spiders in the greenhouse.

Andrew Halliday - Committee Member

Andrew joined Greenlink in 2024 and became a committee member in 2025.

Prior to retiring Andrew worked in the Telecommunications industry, initially in the IT side of the business then transitioning into a program management and corporate governance role. He has also been heavily involved in the development and implementation of many corporate training programs.

Andrew volunteered at Greenlink to develop his understanding of the local indigenous landscape and meet like minded people. He also sees the nursery playing a pivotal role in changing the way that people think about their gardens and local parklands.

Ashton Hawkins - Committee Member

Ashton began volunteering at Greenlink Nursery in late 2022 while completing her Bachelor of Environmental Science. Since then, she has contributed across a wide range of activities, including seed collection, nursery tasks, and park work, and in 2025 she expanded her involvement by joining the committee.

Gradually finding herself more obsessed with Melbourne’s indigenous plants and vegetation communities, Ashton has been involved with various ecological restoration projects throughout Whitehorse. She has had a focus on bringing vulnerable and unique species into cultivation and back into pockets of urban bushland and garden spaces where they’ve long since disappeared.
