Tufted perennial herb with fleshy foliage and upright spikes of star-like flowers.
Plant in drifts, or in cottage gardens. Generally dies back after flowering but can continue growing in moist conditions.
Indigenous name: PIKE (Woiwurrung)
The bulb-shaped tuber was roasted, giving a sweet taste, as well as being highly nutritious.
