Robust upright perennial with underground trunk, arching grass-like tufted leaves with triangular cross-section, and tall spikes of fragrant flowers to 1m.
Slow growing feature plant for gardens or pots, and are useful for adding form and texture.
Indigenous name: BAGGUP (Woi Wurrung)
Flowers used to make a sweetened drink. Roots eaten as well as soft young leaves. Resin used to attach axeheads.
